10 Questions To Ask When Interviewing A Real Estate Agent

The real estate industry has a bad reputation for some people who think that real estate agents are not needed and that if you are a seller you will save money by not having an experienced real estate agent at your aid.

This is often a huge mistake. Real estate agents are experienced individuals who constantly take continuing education to better understand all of the laws and rules associated with contracts. Plus real estate agents are submerged into the housing industry.

It surprises me when some people think that they can continue to do their job and ask people to pay them for their service and try to do real estate on the side. The bottom line is that real estate agents network with each other and get into the industry. This allows for many opportunities for them to spread the word.

Now there are all types of real estate agents just like any industry. There are some really good ones and some that do real estate as if it is a hobby.

Here are 10 questions to ask when interviewing a real estate agent:

1. How long has the agent been in real estate?

2. How long has the agent lived in the area?

3. How long has the agent been with the same company?

4. How many homes is the agent working on?

5. How many buyers and sellers is he currently working with?

6. Is he strictly a listing agent or a buyers agent?

7. Does the agent have a team?

8. What types of marketing services does he offer?

9. Is he a part of the National Association of Realtors?

10. Is the agents real estate license current?

These are some questions to ask when looking for a real estate agent. If you have answers to these questions then you will have a good idea of who you are having represent you. When you choose an experienced real estate agent then you have someone that is on your side and looking out for your best interest in regards to real estate.

The same goes if you are looking for commercial real estate. Commercial real estate agents have to have a lot of education to be able to successfully handle bigger real estate deals.

So next time you are contemplating selling or buying a home on your own think about one question, do you know everything going on in the real estate industry if you are not in it?
