Real Estate Speak

I often hear real estate agents speak what I call real estate speak. What I mean by this is that they talk using jargon or things that people in the average world could really care less about.

The best example of this is when most real estate agents get a call or a lead from either their website or somewhere else they use things that are not necessary.

For Example lets say you get a call from your website and you want to call them back. Most real estate agents will leave long messages like:

“Hello this is James Tucker from The Tucker Real Estate Group and you had recently called about some properties that were listed on our website tuckerrealestate.com. I would love to be able to help you in any way in finding a home. My number is ________, thank you”

Now lets think about this for a minute, if people call on your site they do not care who you are, where you are from, or what your website is. I have received these type of calls and every time I think about it I cringe and want to say I don’t care who you are or blah blah blah. People do not care where you work or what your website is, what they want is to find a good home.

If someone was to call on your site you do not need to leave a spill, you just need to return their call and help them find properties that they want to look for. So here is a better example of a return phone call message.

“Hello this is James, recently you were on my website looking at some homes for sale in the _________ area. Let me know if I can help you in your search. My phone number is _______, thanks have a good day.”

Now this type of message is all about them, the customer, not the real estate agent. In general real estate agents like to talk about themselves and especially in this day and age people could care less. The customer will ask you questions when they want to know more about you.

So do not talk real estate speak, talk normal speak. The more you look after the people and stop flaunting who you work for, how long you have been in business, how many websites you have the more success you will have.
