Silver Reef Ghost Town
Silver Reef was born in 1878 after a surprise sandstone silver strike, and grew into a town of 1,500 by 1881. Subsequent problems with water in the mines and low silver prices killed the town shortly thereafter. The well maintained Wells Fargo Bank Building is the town’s main attraction. It is surrounded by sagebrush and the foundations of other structures long since destroyed. Take I-15 north about 15 miles to Exit 22 or 23 and follow signs west for 1-1/2 miles.
